LEI celebrate International Women’s Day

2021 International Women’s Day:  ‘Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World’

We are very happy to be supporting and promoting the global theme for the 2021 International Women’s Day:  ‘Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World’.  Here at LEI were pursue equality from within the organisation with women making up 2/3 of our leadership team. We are fortunate to have many long term staff who are driving us in our mission. We strongly believe in being an agile and flexible employer, offering full and part-time employment and flexible leave options to balance parenting duties and pursue higher education qualifications.

On Monday 8 March, Kate Fairlie joined a Diversity in Surveying event led by our state Surveying Taskforce here in New South Wales and promoted diversity in the profession to some 60 school, university and TAFE students – as well as fellow surveyors. Alongside NSW’s first female Surveyor General and representatives from First Nations and international surveyors, Kate discussed how we use surveying knowledge and technologies for diversity and equity. The human side of surveying.

A critical path in one’s professional journey relies on a strong desire to follow your passion and secondly from positive mentors and supporters. On International Women’s Day – and every day – we celebrate the many strong and passionate women who #choosetochallenge gender norms and women’s insecure tenure, by  working at and with Land Equity in our head office and on our projects in the Mekong, Indonesia, and many countries globally. We also celebrate the many positive, caring and strong women in our lives: our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunties, colleagues, friends and all, for the wonderful contribution they bring to our lives and the betterment that gender equality brings to society. If we can help improve women’s access to land, improve the legal constraints on women’s right to own, manage and inherit property, we can realise the gains of improved agricultural productivity and help to bring millions of men, women and children out of hunger. Support women, and support a better future for the world.
