Reviewing methods and strategies for providing education and training to land professionals

Project Narrative

The objectives of the case studies was to improve understanding of how other countries in the region, including Australia and New Zealand, have dealt with education and training in land administration and customary tenure issues to promote economic and social development. The case study sought to provide ideas and inspiration to Pacific governments, officials, land holders and the private sector on how solutions might be developed for their own countries.

Key services provided

Conducted research, including by consultations and interviews with relevant stakeholders, into training and education in land administration in Pacific Nations with a specific emphasis on the University of the South Pacific (Fiji) and PNG University of Technology (UNITECH). Reviewed the education and training strategies in the Laos Land Titling Project to determine opportunities for implementing similar approaches to education that had been adopted on the Lao Land Titling Project.

Prepared a case study – “Training and educating land professional: the value of institutional partnerships” which case study No 16 of the AusAID document Making Land Work, Volume 2.
