On Thursday 15 February, the Mekong Region Land Governance (MRLG) project and the Land Portal launched the first webinar in the State of Land in the Mekong series. The series, which will consist of three webinars across 2024 and 2025, aims to shine a spotlight on land issues in the Mekong region during a time of immense rural transformation.

Rights for Forest Dwellers: Some Answers in the 2017 Vietnam Forestry Law
Between 2001-2018, Vietnam lost 25% of its forested area, equivalent to over 2.5 million hectares. A 2004 law sought to focus efforts on reforestation and protection; however, it had major shortcomings that failed to protect both the forests and the communities dependent on them.
MRLG and FAO hold second Regional Land Forum
The Mekong Region Land Governance (MRLG) project and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) held their second Regional Land Forum in Bangkok on 28-30 May 2018.
What is happening at MRLG?
Here at LEI and Gret’s Mekong Region Land Governance project we are moving towards the end of Phase 1 in June. We expect a relatively seamless shift into the second phase, which is anticipated to start in July this year, for another four years.
