We are looking for our next dedicated colleague with experience in land tenure recording and registration, survey, and geospatial solutions for land administration. 

The Land Registration/Land Administration/Survey/Geospatial position involves hands-on consulting and interaction with LEI clients, both on field missions and from the office. This is a technical and consulting role that will work within our experienced team of Land Administration Specialists to ensure that we continue to deliver quality solutions, drawing on inhouse expertise and experience and international good practice. You will be researching and developing tools to produce innovative solutions and technical or institutional documentation adapted to meet individual project requirements. You will also contribute to LEI’s business development and ongoing research and communications. 

Our small and highly effective team is looking for a proactive communicator. Experience is valuable, and so too is adaptive and flexible thinking. We are looking for someone who is accustomed to being innovative and is eager to expand their knowledge base.  Experience in research and a desire to develop solutions for land administration policy and practice towards international good land governance is valuable.  

We seek to fill a range of responsibilities with one or more positions. Your role will include:  

Undertaking short term technical advisory work as a land professional, and long-term oversight of international projects, troubleshooting emerging issues and managing quality deliverables.  

Providing technical and project management support to projects and Team Leaders in specific technical areas of:  

  • Land administration, land and resource tenure recording and registration, land governance and institutional strengthening; and/or, 
  • Survey and mapping solutions for land administration; and/or 
  • Social and environmental safeguards, and stakeholder engagement on land tenure matters to address infrastructure, large scale investment and climate change issues.  

Working closely with our business development team to develop innovative business strategies, foster strategic relationships, meet company objectives, and achieve company targets. 

Supporting and assisting with the preparation of tenders, technical papers, research, and presentations. 

Undertaking international travel within pandemic restrictions and the boundaries of risk assessments.

Minimum qualifications and experience 

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Engineering or Geomatics Sciences, GIS or Spatial / Urban Planning, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Law, International Development or Geography 
  • Eight or more years consulting and/or business experience in a related industry 
  • A least one written reference.

We have a strong team at our Wollongong headquarters and work with our onsite national and international teams to consult and co-design land administration solutions, from documenting customary tenure with communities to integrated national information system strategies. LEI designs and implements projects through large national teams to improve people’s access to tenure security, instigate equitable land and natural resource policies, and support stronger, more accountable, and efficient institutions for good land governance.
